About

A citizen science tool for mapping urban green infrastructure. Photograph what's growing, track its condition over time, and flag issues that need attention.

How It Works

  1. Sign in to create an account
  2. Photograph green infrastructure you find — planters, street trees, green walls, rain gardens, and more
  3. AI identifies the type automatically from your photo
  4. Set the condition (Poor, OK, or Good) and add observations
  5. Location is auto-detected from photo GPS, your device, or placed manually on the map
  6. Submit and it appears as a marker on the map

Features

  • AI classification: Photos are automatically analysed to identify the green infrastructure type
  • Multiple observations: Add follow-up visits to existing scout sites to track changes over time
  • Issue tracking: Flag problems (damage, overgrown, etc.) — issues persist across observations until marked as resolved
  • Shape outlines: Draw rectangles, circles, or freehand polygons to show the extent of larger features
  • Observation timeline: View the full history of observations for each scout site
  • Edit and update: Modify your scout sites — change condition, location, images, and issues

Map

The basemap switches automatically between OpenStreetMap (default) and OS MasterMap (signed-in users) for higher detail.
